Description
Summary:H. de Lubac received an honorary doctorate from our faculty. After the second world war he was the central figure in the conflicts surrounding the „nouvelle théologie“. This article clarifies the complicated and unclear nature of these conflicts with regard to both the human and the scientific issues involved. This done with help of heretofore unpublished correspondence. The new information leads to a much more differentiated view of the events, persons and positions that are part and parcel of the newer history of theology and its difficulties in arriving at a true „aggiornamento“ to the intellectual world of today and the challenges it faces. Thus this exposition should reveal falsifying oversimplifications and a onesidedness that does not take reality seriously.
