Descripción
Sumario:Building on the work of scholars such as Ben Zvi, Floyd and Nissinen on the production of the prophetic books, this essay examines that topic in regard to the book of Jeremiah. Taking into account the distinctive perspective of the Jeremiah tradition on questions such as the rebuilding of the Jerusalem temple and its priesthood, the paper proposes that those who produced the book of Jeremiah were outsiders to the Jerusalem establishment in Persian Yehud. It identifies Mizpah as the place where the book was produced, and the Shaphan family as the scribal group responsible for its writing.
