Description
Summary:The article is a comment on can. 788, which presents the catechumenate as an instruction and a first experience of Christian life, and as an invitation into faith, liturgy, charity and the apostolate, towards a progressive involvement in the Christian community. After having briefly illustrated the historic evolution of this juridic institute and the theological debate on the relationship between the celebration of the sacraments of Christian initiation, there follows an explanation of those elements of novelty and the actuality of this pastoral proposal, by analysind above all the indications of the Ordo initiationis christianae adultorum, integrated with the dispositions oh the Code of Canon Law. The normative competences of the Episcopal Conference and the diocesan bishop are then highlighted, together with the role of the entire parish community and the different ministries of it.
