Description
Summary:Biographical note: Andriedu Toit, University of Pretoria, South Africa; Cilliers Breytenbach, Humboldt University,Berlin, Germany, andUniversity of Stellenbosch, South Africa; David S. du Toit, Humboldt University,Berlin, Germany.
This volume consists of some 20 studies on Paul, reflecting 30 years of Pauline research. The author focuses on reading the Pauline texts as closely as possible by applying a keen knowledge of Greek, linguistics, style, rhetoric and exegetical methodology. The articles cover aspects of Paul’s background, his conversion to the Christian faith, his style, and particularly his strategies of persuasion and his theology. Romans and Galatians form two of the main foci of his research. Themes investigated include complex and hotly debated issues such as the forensic character of Romans, homosexuality, the so-called new perspective on Paul, and Pauline ethics.
