Description
Summary:»Lumen gentium« makes some relevant statements for a theology of office. These statements affect the Codex Iuris Canonici 1983 (CIC 1983). The article explores the statements' consequences and effects on the CIC's office rights. At the same time, it attempts to use the Codex as support to interpret »Lumen gentium«. The discussion shows that the CIC 1983 opens the canonistic understanding of office to include the laity in it. We can understand the inclusion as special emphasis on active participation of all faithful in the mission of the church and in the sacerdotium commune.
