| Résumé: | The main objective of this article is to present the life and work of a distinguished but little known missionary of the Discalced Carmel: F. José María de Santa Teresa. Thanks to the letters that he sent to the "Congregatio de Propaganda Fide", we know the place (China) and the period of time (second half of the eighteenth century) of his activity as a Catholic missionary. From the descriptions and commentaries in his letters, we attempt to analyze his views on some important topics such as: Chinese rituals, the Padroado , the persecution of the Church in China, the expulsion of the Jesuits from China and also his own life. En el presente artículo queremos presentar la vida y obra de un misionero insigne y poco conocido del Carmelo Descalzo; se trata del P. José María de Santa Teresa. Gracias a las cartas enviadas por dicho religioso a la Congregación de Propaganda Fide, podemos conocer el espacio (China) y el tiempo (segunda mitad del siglo XVIII) donde desarrolló su vida como misionero católico. A partir de las apreciaciones y comentarios recogidos en sus epístolas, vamos a tratar de analizar su visión sobre temas tan relevantes como: los ritos chinos, el Padroado , la persecución de la Iglesia en China, la expulsión de los Jesuitas y su propia trayectoria vital. |
