Absolute chronology of the Uruk and Jemdet Nasr periods at Uruk, southern Mesopotamia: the interpretation of additional 14C samples

A total of 33 organic samples from the Uruk and Jemdat Nasr Period levels in Uruk were submitted for 14C analysis. In addition, 61 fragments from burnt beams from the Late Uruk ‘building C’ were dated by dendrochronological methods, and a dendro curve of 144 year-rings was determined. The radiocarbo...

Description
Summary:A total of 33 organic samples from the Uruk and Jemdat Nasr Period levels in Uruk were submitted for 14C analysis. In addition, 61 fragments from burnt beams from the Late Uruk ‘building C’ were dated by dendrochronological methods, and a dendro curve of 144 year-rings was determined. The radiocarbon analyses of these charcoals advocate a date of the latest construction activities at the building in the second half of the 33rd century BC.
Jahrhunderts v. Chr.
