Description
Summary:The Society of Jesus’s church in Granada constitutes one of the main examples of Andalusian baroque. This is thanks to its artistic and stylistic features. Nevertheless, the historiography has been excessively focused on certain special items, which has caused a necessary reinterpretation of other parts much more unknown. For that reason, the following paper offers a new iconographic and iconological analysis of the sacristy’s vault (1617-1620), whereby we are able to approach to the establishment of the Jesuit doctrine in Granada at the early seventeenth century.
