| Summary: | „Sozialarbeit wird im Vergleich zu Beratung und Therapie häufig unterschätzt: Sozialarbeiter/-innen tragen in sehr komplexen Situationen oft eine große Verantwortung, meist wird wesentlich mehr von ihnen verlangt als ‚nur‘ Beratung.“ (Herwig-Lempp & Kühling 2012). Nicht nur die Situationen, in welchen sich Sozialarbeiter/-innen bewegen, sind komplex, sondern auch die beruflichen Kontexte, in welchen sie eingesetzt werden, sind vielfältig und manchmal nicht trennscharf von anderen Berufsfeldern abzugrenzen. Die Frage, wo und inwiefern Sozialarbeiter/-innen mit Spiritualität in Berührung kommen, ist daher kontextbedingt zu beantworten und die Berührungspunkte sind ebenso verschieden, wie die Einsatzfelder, Klient-/innen und besonderen Herausforderungen von Sozialarbeiter/-innen. In diesem Artikel wird anhand zweier Fallbeispiele ein kleiner Ausschnitt aus dem facettenreichen Thema „Spiritualität und soziale Arbeit“ beleuchtet. Zum Schluss folgen einige Handlungs- bzw. Haltungsempfehlungen zum Umgang mit spirituellen Klient/-innen und Fragestellungen in der sozialen Arbeit. “Social work is often underestimated, compared to counseling and therapy: social workers often take a high degree of responsibility in very complex situations; most of the time they are expected to do much more than ‘just’ counseling” (Herwig-Lempp & Kühling 2012).Social workers do not only have to cope with complex situations, but often are employed in very diverse and complex professional contexts, too. Sometimes their working fields are not easy to differentiate from other professions. The question if and to what extent social workers come into contact with spirituality can only be answered by taking into account the special context. Potential points of contact are just as diverse as the working fields, clients and particular challenges of a social worker. This article sheds light on a small extract of the multi-faceted subject “spirituality and social work” on the basis of two case studies. Finally, some conclusions concerning recommendable attitudes and actions in social work with spiritual clients and topics are presented. |
