Aportación fundamental del artículo es el manejo de fuentes hasta el momento muy poco exploradas en los estudios histórico-jurídicos. El trabajo se centra de forma particular en las congregaciones del Concilio y de Propaganda Fide, en el papel del nuncio apostólico en Madrid y en el rol del Consejo de Indias en la concesión del pase regio. | ||
| 520 | |a This article aims to analyse the role of the papacy and the Roman Curia in the ecclesiastical and spiritual governance of the Ibero-American church during the early modern period as well as evaluate its importance and intensity in connection with the classical interpretation of royal patronage as an impenetrable screen between the Holy See and the New World. A fundamental contribution of this work is taking advantage of little-used sources in legal-historical studies. The analysis focuses particularly the Roman congregation of the Council and de Propaganda Fide, the role of the apostolic nuncio in Madrid and the action of the Council of the Indies in the concession of the pase regio.
