Resumo: | Egypt was the homeland of monasticism from at least the fourth century AD. The aim of this article is to investigate the consumption of fish and meat in the monastic diets of Thebes from the sixth to the eighth centuries AD, and other monastic sites of Middle Egypt, as well as in Palestine, where recent studies have illustrated monastic diets. This in turn could shed additional light on the case of Thebes. |
