The article traces the decade by decade history of the Pontifical Radio Station by focusing on its service during the time of the Second World War and the Church’s silence; on the development of programming in different languages for the different cultures of the world; and, living in harmony with the path of the Church as it has been led by eight popes during Vatican Radio’s service. The mission remained the same throughout the continuous change of historical situations and communication technologies until 2016, when the Radio ceased to exist as an institution, when it was integrated into the Secretariat – then Dicastery – for Communication. |
