Description
Summary:The Second Vatican Council has proposed clear options concerning the life and vision of the church at the service of God's universal offer of salvation. This has provoked both assentive and dissentive responses in the face of which dialogue does not always provide a solution to divisions within the church or to criticism from without. While dialogue remains an important tool in the search for church unity, it should not be regarded higher than the foundational options of the Vatican Council. Therefore, church unity, as high a value as it may be, cannot be achieved through communicative processes alone, but is a sign of grace where and when it happens.
