Description
Summary:The "purely" consultative nature of many ecclesial bodies has become problematic in the eyes of many Catholics. The democratic ethos and their ecclesial awareness lead to them making a legitimate request to be heard in questions which concern the Church and the proclamation of the Gospel. How should decision-making processes, which honour the shared responsibility of all the baptised, as well as the freedom of the minister who is the guarantor of ecclesial communion, be achieved ? The ecclesiological scope of synodality in action sheds light on the limitations of the "consultatif-deliberative" word pair. It enables us to broaden the field of what is canonically possible while honouring the pneumatological dimension of the ecclesial community through the distinction between decision-making and decision-taking.
