Sumario:In a world brimming over with trauma and suffering, what is the gospel? And what is the church? In this article, Harriet Hill explores the church as a fellowship of suffering, drawing insights from her years of experience in trauma healing. She describes the first “Healing the Wounds of Trauma” workshop in 2002 with pastors from war zones across Africa. Then she explores factors that prevent churches from engaging in this fellowship of suffering, countered with reasons the church is ideally placed to be a fellowship of suffering.
