Summary:Missionary laity - The presence of a missionary laity is a great source of vitality for the whole Church. Particularly after Vatican II, the development of this reality within the Church is a reason of great hope. Despite the importance, the strengthening and the extension of the laity in the Church, we have to acknowledge some obstacles to the advance of a missionary laity. Some of them are particular, which is, those that normally pertain to the birth of a new reality in the Church; but it is also neccesary to acknowledged those which come from a weak consideration of the ecclesial nature of the laity, the mission and the harmonic interrelationship among these realities. In this article the author sketches the state of the question and the appropiate framework, from a juridical canonical viewpoint from which the propose possible solutions, that are compatible with the identy of the universal mission of the Church and the laity within it, in order to promote a greater participation of laypeople in the mission
