The local dean, who is pastor of a neigh boring parish, will have "the powers and faculties of a pastor," in accord with canon 517, §2. The bishop and the parish life coordinator hope to find sufficient visiting priests to provide Sunday Mass at least once a month. The parish has about 350 Mass intentions which cannot be satisfied over the course of one year. Does the parish life coordinator or the focal dean have the authority to transfer this money and these intentions elsewhere? Must the donors be consulted? May the money be returned to the donors and these obligations cancelled? When a visiting priest is able to celebrate Mass on Sunday, must it be a Mass "for the people"? Or does the dean have the obligation to celebrate the Missa pro populo?" |
