Summary:The Pentecostal Church in the Republic of Poland developed in Poland at the beginning of the 20th century and its legal status is regulated by the Act of 20 Febuary 1997 on the relation between the State and the Pentecostal Church in the Republic of Poland. In the past it was difficult to establish one doctrine in the Pentecostal movement; however, generally speaking, it is based in the typical principles of Protestantism. The Pentecostal Church does not consider marriage as a sacrament; nevertheless, they acknowledge that the institiution existed long in the past and initially was created by God. Marriage in the Pentecostal Church in the Republic of Poland is monogamist, heterosexual, and permanent, but in some cases dissoluble. To be valid, it must be concluded in both regimes: civil and religious. According to Article 40 of ILPCh, a marriage can be concluded in two ways:1) by two separate civil and religious acts or 2) by using the religious form with its effects in the civil law, which is possible due to the amendment of the Family and Guardianship Code introduced on 15 November 1998. In the Internal Law of the Pentecostal Church there is no rule which would render concluding a marriage by proxy possible. However, the Pentecostal marriage first in this specific form, Registry Office by a proxy. It would be recognized by the Pentecostal Church as a valid form of marriage; nevertheless, the religious ceremony would have to take place in the traditional way, without the help of an additional person
