Summary:The tradition of spiritual direction offers a wealth of wisdom gleaned over 1500 years. The focus of this study is to describe potent themes of spiritual direction that relate to the empowerment of individulas and families with disability. After defining and explaining relevant history in spiritual direction, this study examines the themes: prayer, wholeness and intergration, listening, finding God, with special emphasis on The Triple Way and approach is to help those who live with disability and their families encounter the Divine Mystery and enter life on a new level.
