Description
Summary:The 74th General Assembly of the Italian Bishops’ Conference was held from May 24-27. In his dialogue with the gathered bishops, the Pontiff urged them to overcome a certain “amnesia” of the guidelines detailed by the Ecclesial Conference of Florence in 2015, and to enhance a path that starts from the bottom and places the people of God at the centre. The Assembly then voted on a motion that launched a “synodal path.” Today we need to “work towards reconciliation” with the reality and history of our country, rethinking a “style of presence” of the Church in Italian life. In this sense, we also re-propose the content of the “final vow” that Fr Bartholomew Sorge expressed at the Ecclesial Convention in 1976.
