Sumario:This article is based on the question of whether there is such a thing as »Protestant« ecclesiastical law. R. Sohm advocated the theory of the incompatibility of church and the law, J. Heckel firmly rejected this theory. In this article, their arguments are discussed. What is essential is the insight into the historicity and the complexity of ecclesiastical law. At the conclusion of his article, the author specifies the unanswered questions and the perspectives.
