Description
Summary:The use of Scripture in pastoral care needs to attend to what is disclosed about God's power to transform as well as to the limitations of persons seeking care. Song of Songs provides a vision for pastoral care grounded in metaphors that tell a story that witnesses to the transforming power of love between equals. Even though the text ends in yearning, the book as a whole illustrates why desire is necessary for healthy human relationships and why love, a basic human need, is integral for any counseling relationship and especially with individuals struggling with depression.
