Σύνοψη:This fascinating collection contemplates the ambitious task of the resurrection of the grand narrative, in suitably chastened form, in the postmodern era. The editors discern that a world without an underlying narrative of hope is a pretty bleak place, and they consider, with all due caution and caveats, the conditions of the possibility of hope after hope. The medium which will carry their vision of hope renewed is the gift of story. The volume covers a widely comprehensive array of postmodern authors. To read it through is a literary education in itself, and a reminder of the—almost—limitless range of notes that can be struck in modern fiction.
