Итог: | How does one evaluate the statements of those who claim to speak for God? Moberly's study probes this question primarily within a Christian framework, although his reflections range more broadly, touching on other faiths (especially Islam), and are further extrapolated to those of no faith at all. On one level this is a simple work: it is a theologically interested reading of Scripture exploring the particular problem of human speech ascribed to God (i.e. ‘prophecy’). However, this exercise brings with it a range of complexities: the involvement of God in human affairs; the phenomenon of prophecy; the discipline of reading biblical texts; the nature of the Christian canon; the ethics of religious language, and so on. |
