Sumario:In a series designed to make ‘a significant contribution to the topic of the background to Paul’ (p. viii) and open to anyone engaged in Pauline studies, this fifth volume offers 13 essays from North American and European scholars exploring various dimensions of Paul′s Jewish, Greek, and/or Roman background. While not divided into sections formally corresponding to these categories, the first four essays centre on Paul′s Jewishness, the next six on his participation in Hellenistic culture, and the last three on his being a Roman citizen., In the opening essay, Drake Williams (‘Examining the Extent of Scriptural Citation and Allusion Influence in 1 Corinthians’) calls attention to the Jewish background of 1 Corinthians.
