Zusammenfassung: | As Robert Taft continues his extensive treatment of the sources and development of the Byzantine Liturgy of St Chrysostom, his methods and perspectives shift to some extent while always maintaining a strict interpretative method based on what the texts can tell us about each stage of the rite, how they reveal layers of addition and abridgement, and how they have been received. In this volume, much longer than others in the series, he unravels the final sections of the eucharistic rite, primarily focusing on receiving communion, thanksgivings, and blessings, and a number of related reflections on issues related to eucharistic practice and the Constantinopolitan context of the historical rite. |
