Summary: | This edited collection emerges from a seminar on the eucharist in celebration of Carol Hogan’s golden jubilee with the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. The papers given in that context developed into the rich and critical conversation which makes up this collection of essays. Two of the editors describe this process using imagery of bread-making: ‘it has taken many grains to produce this one basket of bread, each loaf unique to its author, but all equally nourishing and transforming’ (p. 1). This is appropriate because it reflects the richness of the theological dialogue underlying this work. It draws together women’s experience, dreams, and reflections with men’s voices. Established positions are critiqued alongside the ‘re-envisioning’ of key doctrines. |
