The growing attention of the exegesis of the New Testament is explained by the fact that Clement mentioned a «secret Gospel» of Mark. In spite of some doubts about its authenticity the debate has become essentially exegetical and the acceptance of the letter communis opinio. This is why an inquiry seems justified this question: Does this fragment have the same interest for the history of ancient Christianity? The response is "No". Moreover, we argue that this text should be called. «Writing» or «Letter of Pseudo- Clement of Alexandria ». |
