Σύνοψη: | Just like the debate about panentheism, the discussion about the sixth petition of the Lord’s Prayer shows that not only academic theology, but also society as a whole is in a process of clarifying the correct image of God. This article describes the dispute over the nature of God as a conflict of aims : it is on the one hand about preserving historical experience, but on the other about avoiding logical contradictions. It seems that the two criteria cannot be satisfied equally. If we want to preserve the traditional image of God in its totality, then we have to accept inconsistencies. But, if we strive for consistency, then we run the risk of ignoring historical experiences |
