Description
Summary:A faculty is an authorization by an ecclesiastical authority, usually a bishop, enabling a priest to participate in the ecclesiastical power of teaching, sanctifying or governing for the good of the faithful. Consequently, the priest has “the ability to act in a licit or juridically efficacious manner”. Without the grants of faculties, the priest’s acts would be illicit and/or invalid. Some faculties are granted by law and/or are attached to certain offices such as the office of parish priests or chaplain.
