Description
Summary:"Bell ringing": percussion in the soundscape of daily life in Spanish female convents in 17th and 18th centuries: The female communities that inhabited convents in the 17th and 18th centuries in Spain were governed by strict rules and ceremonials which aimed to manage times, words and acts of their daily life in any case. In this paper these ruling sources will be used to do an approach to ideal soundscape of enclosed convents of different congregations, in the frame of nonverbal communication and with special attention to the role played by bells and other percussion instruments as governing agents.
