| Summary: | The article focuses on the use of «essence» as a word still apt to express the truth of unity and Trinity in God. After a concise reference to the discussion in recent theology, the author develops his argument following the thought of Luis F. Ladaria. «Unitas essentiae» and «unitas caritatis» are the two poles that emerge in the Latin tradition from the quest to maintain a balance, which will express the true meaning of the Nicene homoousios. This solution is attained by giving a a particular emphasis to the first divine person, the Father, as source of the Trinitarian life. L’articolo focalizza l’attenzione sull’uso di «essenza» come termine ancora adatto a esprimere la verità dell’unità e trinità in Dio. Dopo un sintetico richiamo al dibattito nella teologia recente, l’autore sviluppa la sua riflessione seguendo il pensiero di Luis F. Ladaria. «Unitas essentiae» e «unitas caritatis» sono i due poli emergenti nella tradizione latina, insieme al tentativo di tenere un equilibrio capace di esprimere il senso profondo dell’homoousios niceno. Questa possibilità è individuata nella sottolineatura della prima persona divina, il Padre come fonte della vita trinitaria. |
