| Summary: | This paper aims to review the theory of narrative identity by P. Ricoeur from the concept of personal identity proposed by E. Stein. This review reaches both the main foundations of narrative identity and the description of the reader – character relationship as it is explained by Ricoeur. The guiding criterion will be the distinction between the primordial self and the non primordial self. This distinction allows a foundation of a substantial vision of man and the knowledge of himself. Concurrently, this criterion offers a distinction between the own self and the other self whose enlightening relevance resides in that it can explain acts of empathy and through them the relationship reader- character is understood without risking the reader´s personal identity, as it does in Ricoeur´s conception. Objeto del presente artículo es realizar una crítica a la teoría de la identidad narrativa de P. Ricoeur desde la concepción de la identidad personal de E. Stein. Tal crítica se dirige tanto al fundamento último de la teoría de la identidad narrativa, como a la descripción de la relación entre lector y personaje según es explicada por Ricoeur. El criterio guía de la crítica será la distinción entre yo originario y yo no originario, la cual posibilita una fundamentación de una visión sustancial del hombre, y del conocimiento de sí mismo. Este criterio nos ofrece al mismo tiempo una distinción entre yo propio y yo ajeno, cuya importancia iluminadora consiste en que explica los actos de empatía y por ellos se comprende la relación entre lector y personaje sin que quede comprometida la identidad personal del lector como acontece en la concepción de Ricoeur. |
