总结:The aim of the paper is twofold: first, to follow the evolution of Gersonides' book "The Wars of the Lord," and the development of his cosmology during the years 1321-1328; and second, to show to what extent Gersonides' cosmology and physics were determined by his astronomy. By examining the references to the Wars in the early works of Gersonides (mainly the commentaries on Averroes' commentaries on the physical books of Aristotle, dated 1321, and also the commentary on Job from the end of 1325), the paper follows the development of Gersonides' ideas during these years. By 1321 Gersonides was acquainted with al-Bitrūjī's criticism of Ptolemy and with his alternative astronomical models and he severely criticized al-Bitrūjī's efforts. Learning from al-Bitrūjī's errors, Gersonides developed his empirical methods and an alternative astronomy, accepting the eccentric model but rejecting the epicyclic. The attempt to justify his astronomical models led to his original cosmology, which differs significantly from Aristotle's.
