Σύνοψη:Ever since the year 1919, when women were given the vote, intense discussions have taken place within the so-called Liturgical Movement in the Catholic Church in Germany about the role of women. As a reaction to the Women's Movement, and its supposed breach of the traditional view of gender roles, the Liturgical Movement developed a liturgical picture of the place of women, which was largely identical with previous traditions. On the other hand, there was room for women to take an active role in the liturgical apostolate. There was even discussion about the possible role of women priests, which shows that there were links between the two movements, as can be seen in the statements made by several leading figures in the Liturgical Movement.
