Description
Summary:The article deals with a seemingly outdated topic of the “Apostolic Creed,” the classical Christian confession of faith: the return of Jesus at the end of time. In the tradition of Islam, it also plays an important role. Muslim theologians often regard it as an important issue of Christian-Muslim dialogue. In the first part of the article, I sketch out and compare the main references of this topic in the New Testament, the Qur’an, and the tradition of Islam. Then I discuss the question of how the belief in the second coming of Christ can be interpreted today.
