| Summary: | The standard formulae which introduce and close each reign in the Book of Kings have been the subject of intensive study in terms of Kings' editorial history and its authors' use of sources. This paper assesses how these formulae were adapted by the Chronicler. Even a cursory examination of some of the outstanding formulae, such as the theological evaluations, the source citations, and the death and burial notices, reveals a much greater tendency toward variation in Chronicles than in Kings. This variation is by and large not random but operates according to principles consistent with the Chronicler's view of the kings in question. The same conclusion can be drawn from at least some of the cases in which the Chronicler switches the order of the formulary found in Kings or records them in a different textual locus than Kings. Cet article montre comment les formules stéréotypées qui introduisent et closent chaque règne dans les livres des Rois ont été adaptées par les Chroniques. Même un examen superficiel des formules les plus remarquables, comme les évaluations théologiques, les citations de la source, les notices de décès et d'ensevelissement, démontre une bien plus grande tendance à la variante chez Chroniques que chez Rois. Cette variation n'est pas due au hasard, mais s'effectue suivant des principes en harmonie avec la perception des différents rois qu'avaient les Chroniques. La même conclusion peut être tirée d'au moins quelques-uns des cas dans lesquels les Chroniques changent l'ordre de la formule de Rois, ou bien la mentionnent dans un contexte différent. |
