Description
Summary:Because the expression mî 'ad tûmām in Dam. Doc. II, 9 does not read smoothly, it has been suggested that it is a corruption of mîyyiśrā'ēl'd tûmām. This restoration is possible, but the context does not demand it. Another explanation is that II, 9 preserves an abbreviated gloss that can be restored on the basis of the structurally and thematically related passage XX, 13-14: ûmîyyôm hē'āsēp yôreh hayyāḥîd 'ad tom kol 'anšê hammilḥāmāh. Both II, 9 and XX, 13-14 preserve the temporal expression mî(yyôm)...'ad and include a form of the noun tom (tûmām). This expression is based on the tradition in Deut. 2, 14.
