| Summary: | Nearly fifty years' worth of organised New Testament research has South Africa firmly secured on the world map as a locale for serious biblical scholarship. A little over half of this accomplishment unfolded during apartheid days. The apparent dearth of black South African contributions from this impressive gallery is both understandable and difficult. This article ponders the story of New Testament scholarship in South Africa chiefly through the porthole that is the New Testament Society of South(ern) Africa. It enquires what it would take for all of Africa to embrace and be embraced by the outstanding legacy that is South African New Testament scholarship. |
