Description
Summary:The article analyzes the theme of peace, starting from Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologiae. Understood as one of the inner effects of charity, together with joy and mercy, peace is not resolved in the concord of souls, but is presented as that tranquility which derives from the «union of the appetites of a single appetent» (Summa Theologiae, II-II, q. 29, a. 1, resp.). Following the path traced by Aquinas in quaestio 29 of Secunda Secundae, the article presents: a. the nature of peace; b. the desire for peace; c. the relationship between peace and charity; d. the relationship between peace and virtue. All starting from a placement of de pace in the more context of the Summa Theologiae. (English)
