Description
Summary:The "current crisis" of the "father" is not a peripheral phenomenon, but the outcome of a way of being and thinking, devoid of the light of the spring source - the oblative dimension of being - according to which the to be is given (Bonaventure) and willed (Duns Scotus). It is on this modality of being that we want to reflect both because it represents the proper trait of the Franciscan ontology, and because the figure of the father is its summarising figure. This reading anew seems necessary if we want to elevate the character and define the role of fatherhood, otherwise condemned to irrelevance, despite the refined psycho-social analyses. It is a style of thought and life, foreign to any academicism, in line with the Franciscan vision of the father as "minister" and "servant", not "judge" nor "master", in a thematic intertwining about which it is not the case of separating the areas - one of reason, the other of faith, one philosophical, the other theological - since in life the boundaries between politics and religion, between the truth of faith and the truth of reason, between family and society are entirely provisional and conventional.
