Description
Summary:Even a small sample of the published obituaries and other forms of reporting will show us how widely assessments of Pope Benedict XVI's life differ. In the London weekly The Tablet for 14 January, one correspondent wrote of 'this very holy, peaceful, gentle but strong human being'. In the same issue another letter to the editor stated: 'His legacy is of a timid man once burned by the experience of Nazism then blinded by the glare of modernity who sought guidance by looking in the rear-view mirror, epitomized by his attempted nostalgic resuscitation of fossilised Latin ritual'.
