Sometimes it happens that culture, through its art, lends itself to inventions so dense and decisive that they come to represent a sacredness, even if secularized. Remembering and celebrating are movements of the heart. They seek legitimations and motivations in living and dying. They compose sparks of some eventual numinosity. Even without the consecrated role of mythical and magical institutions, there are songs that touch the tremendous mystery, the ineffable fascination, the powerful enchantment. It is from this side of the research on Religion and Music that this article wants to provoke readings and reactions. |
