| Résumé: | In contrast to the negative experiences with temporality described in v. 1-25, Psalm 102 invokes the pre-temporality and eternal presence of God in v. 13.26-28. Psalm 102 sharply contrasts the creator with the temporal transience of all creatures. And yet, their earthly finitude is cast in the image of God’s finite and ever-changing garments (v. 27). The decisive point here is that God's own mode of presence is mediated so deeply by his "own" weathering and changing garments that, by being actually distinct from them, God realizes his own being as that of the living God. This opens up eschatological hope. |
