| Summary: | This study explored the meanings and perceptions of clergy sex abuse among Catholics and Non-Catholics. The study’s purpose was to understand causes and cures of clergy sex abuse and their impact on survivors. Using a grounded theory research design, 21 respondents completed in-depth interviews. Major themes derived from the study included Meaning of Clergy Sex Abuse, Playing with Fire, and Dismantling the Culture of Silence. Implications for counselors and service providers are discussed. |
