| Summary: | Spiritual life plays a very relevant role in the thought of Isidore of Seville and has been reflected in his main works, as we can discover in the reading of the Etymologies, the Sentences, the Synonyms, the Ecclesiastical Offices, and his Monastic Rule. The aim of this paper is to develop the main themes of spiritual life exposed in his works. Thus, we will describe the model of holiness that he proposes and the path to attain it, the function of the Holy Spirit in the sanctifying activity of the Christian, the life of prayer, both personal and in community, the penitential life, and the practice of the virtues. Finally, we will present his monastic spirituality with its most significant features. |
