| Summary: | A bulla of shbnyhû yôʾb was found in Tel Eton in the southeastern Shephelah. Since the name 'Joab' was not used as a personal name from the tenth century BCE onward, it represents the name of the historical founder of his family clan. This clan is to be identified with the Joabites mentioned in 1 Chr 4. The textual and toponymical evidence points to the conclusion that these Joabites were a Kenazite subtribe settled in the Valley of Pottery. The biblical name of the valley is preserved in Arabic in the valley in which bank Tel Eton is situated. Une bulle portant le nom de shbnyhû yôʾb a été trouvée à Tel Éton dans la partie sud-est de la Shéphélah. Comme le nom de 'Joab' n'a pas été utilisé comme nom de personne depuis le 10ème siècle, il représente le nom du fondateur historique du clan de la famille. Ce clan est identifié avec les Joabites mentionnés dans 1 Ch 4. L'évidence textuelle et toponymique conduit à la conclusion que ces Joabites étaient une sous-tribu établie dans la Vallée de la Poterie. Le nom biblique de la vallée est conservé en arabe dans la vallée où Tel Éton est situé. |
