Résumé:Adult education’s increasing interests in spirituality and the environment are intertwined against a backdrop of disenchantment and malaise within modern Western society. This article argues that attention should be directed towards environmental adult education responses and programmes located within a humanistic orientation to learning: an example being self-directed activities that weave together spirituality, nature and learning within the spiritual retreat centre.
