Summary:This title needs explanation. The unnecessarily enigmatic word ‘other’ refers to apocryphal texts, written in Greek and recently recovered (that is since the 1880s). These are the Gospel of Thomas (3 fragments), the Gospel of Peter (3 fragments), and ‘The Unknown Gospel’ (i.e. Egerton 2 supplemented with P.Köln 255). ‘Early’ in the title means writings probably originally composed before ad 130. Fragments of six other unidentified gospels need not actually have been so early. These are the Fayyum Fragment (Faiyum here), Merton 51, P.Oxy. 210, P.Oxy. 1224, P.Oxy. 840, and Berlin 11710.
