Description
Summary:"Doctrina de Buena Criança": an ignored manual on courtesy and good manners from Gregorio de Pesquera (Valladolid, 1554) : notes for the hispanic didactic and catechetical literature: The article aims to present a forgotten Hispanic manual on courtesy and good manners from the 1554. In the 16th century, it was used in the popular and catechetical education linked to the large network of "colegios de doctrinos", which was expanded across the territories of the Spanish and Lusitanian crowns. It is compared to the well-known Francisco de Ledesma's manual (1599) while also trying to offer a faithful textual versified and non-modernized transcription of the work. The study entails a contribution of new unpublished material for the history of the catechetical and didactic literature of our modern centuries.
